The ny2no blog map is an easy, accessible and familiar way to travel around a city. In the Blog Map, the goal is for the map to become a new way to travel through New Orleans despite distance from the city. Pulling information from ny2no.net, which is a collaborative online space for organizations in the New Orleans area, each publishing their own video, pictures and text, the map serves as an alternative from of visualizing and contextualizing the stories told by these organizations. The Blog Map gives those that no longer live in New Orleans an opportunity to see what is happening now and for those that are living here, it is a place to celebrate what the city was and document the current track it is on. It is meant to be a fast and clear way to get information, not only about what is going on in someone’s old neighborhood but how the surrounding areas are being affected. By mapping each ny2no.net post to on one map, the lines on the map can reveal a new relationship between each post, creating a tour of pictures, video and text through the past of each community and it’s current stages of change.
